About Peace In Mind Children's Centre

Peace In Mind Children's Centre is a registered Non-Governmental Organization under the NGOs Co-ordination Board of Kenya (Certificate No. OP.218/051/17-198/10812). Founded with a vision to transform lives, we operate across the beautiful but underserved coastal counties of Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa, and Tana River.

Our mission is simple yet profound: "To alleviate poverty, improve access to education and health care services to people with disability, youth and children in general." We believe every child deserves a chance at education, every person with a disability deserves dignity and support, and every community deserves access to healthcare and spiritual nourishment.

Founder & Chairperson

Jacob Ngala Mjimba founded Peace In Mind Children's Centre with a deep passion for serving the most vulnerable in his community. Growing up in the Coast Region, he witnessed firsthand the struggles of children who couldn't afford school fees, families unable to access medical care, and people with disabilities left without support. His unwavering faith and commitment to service led him to establish this organization to be a bridge of hope. Under his leadership, the centre has grown to touch hundreds of lives across four counties, proving that one person's vision can ignite a movement of compassion.

From Empty Hands to Full Hearts: School Books for 50 Children

When schools reopened this year, 50 children in a remote village near Kaloleni had no books to study with. Their parents, mostly small-scale farmers and fishermen, could barely afford food let alone school supplies. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Peace In Mind Children's Centre delivered brand new textbooks, exercise books, and stationery to these eager learners.

"I want to be a doctor when I grow up," says 10-year-old Amina, clutching her new science book. "Now I can study properly and make my mother proud." A Dress of Dignity: Restoring Pride to Those in Need

Mama Zawadi had worn the same faded dress for three years. A widow with five children and limited mobility, she had no means to buy new clothes. When our team visited her village in Kwale County, we brought more than just fabric -- we brought dignity, respect, and the message that she matters.

"I feel like a new woman," Mama Zawadi said, tears of joy streaming down her face as she received her new dress. "Thank you for remembering people like me." Breakfast for the Future: Feeding Young Minds

Every morning, 30 children at a community school in Mombasa gather under the shade of a mango tree for what may be their only meal of the day. Before Peace In Mind stepped in, many of these children would faint in class from hunger, unable to concentrate on their lessons.

Our feeding program now provides nutritious porridge and bread every school morning. "My stomach used to hurt so much during math class," recalls 8-year-old Juma. Stitching Independence: Tailoring Skills for Women with Disabilities

Fatuma was born with a physical disability that made it impossible for her to work in the fields like others in her village. For years, she depended entirely on her aging parents. Then Peace In Mind Children's Centre brought a tailoring training program to Tana River County, and Fatuma's life changed forever.

"I never thought I could earn my own money," Fatuma says, her hands confidently guiding fabric through her sewing machine. "Now I make school uniforms for children in three villages. Sisters in Solidarity: When Women Support Women

In a small village along the Kaloleni-Mavueni road, a group of 12 women came together with a shared dream: to support each other and lift their families out of poverty. Peace In Mind Children's Centre provided them with vocational training, startup materials, and a community savings program.

Today, these women run small businesses selling handmade crafts and clothing. "We are no longer just wives and mothers -- we are businesswomen," says the group's chair, Mama Grace. "We can pay our children's school fees and even save for the future." Your support can expand this program to more villages across the Coast Region. The Breakfast Club: How a Meal Changed Everything

At Mavueni Primary School, attendance used to drop drastically after mid-morning. Children would leave school, not because they didn't want to learn, but because hunger drove them home in search of food. Many never returned for afternoon classes.

Peace In Mind Children's Centre launched a school feeding program that provides a nutritious mid-morning meal to all students. The results were immediate and remarkable: attendance increased by 85%, and academic performance improved across all grades. "I used to miss school because I was too hungry to walk," says 12-year-old student Peter. "Now I come every day because I know there will be food. And I am learning so much!"
